Eagles win as Super 9 semifinalists determined in final round

The Tuamasaga Eagles defeated the Southern Tornadoes 24-31 in the main game of the final round of the P.P.S. Super 9 Senior A competition, however neither side will play in the semifinals next week.

They both remain seventh and eighth in the overall standings, with the Eels, Vikings, Chiefs and Navigators making up the top four.

The Faleata Knights defeated the Savai'i Vikings 17-24 to give themselves a shot at making the semis on 24 points.

However wins to the A'ana Chiefs (13-43 over Atua Legends) and Safata Navigators (50-6 over Savai'i Warriors) meant they secured third and fourth place respectively.

The Knights' win did ensure the Vikings only finished second behind the Vaimauga Eels, so next week the Vikings will face the Chiefs and the Eels will play the Navigators.

In the Under-20 division, the Chiefs' 17-17 draw against was just enough to put them in second place ahead of the Navigators, who defeated the Warriors by 55-8.

They'll face off in a semifinal next weekend, with the other semifinal to feature the first place Eels and fourth place Tuamasaga Eagles (who won 12-29 over the Southern Tornadoes in the final round).
