The Government has agreed to give land for Samoa’s first zoo.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa Dr. Sa'ilele Malielegaoi confirmed the Government’s decision recently in his weekly media program, saying “Bruno’s zoo” will be located in Tafaigata.

“This will be a park for family gatherings,” he said.

The Samoa Land Corporation C.E.O., Ulugia Petelo Kavesi, confirmed that land has been allocated for the project when asked by the Samoa Observer.

“The lease is for the five acres and it is for a park as mentioned in the proposal for a lease with the Samoa Land Corporation,” he said.

Ulugia refused to reveal how much will be paid for the lease, saying it will be finalised after the relocation of the Tafaigata Prison.

“All I can confirm for now is the five acres for the park,” he added.

Last year The Magic Circus of Samoa C.E.O., Tupa'i Bruno Loyale, told this newspaper the Government has agreed to give his company land to build Samoa’s first amusement park.

“It will have a small zoo with zebras, camels, beautiful birds from around the world. The small amusement park will be where families on the weekends can have barbecues or picnics, and at the same time enjoy riding the Ferris wheels, different kinds of rides, opened on weekends and holidays,” he said.
