Women's meeting signals beginning of Malua conference

Embrace your role as a Church Minister’s wife, it is your calling.

That was the message from the Chairperson of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa Women’s Committee, Savaliga Asotai Time, at their annual church service.

The women's meeting precedes the Church's annual conference with the General Assembly kicking off on Monday.

Hundreds of church members from Samoa and abroad are expected to be in attendance.

Speaking in an interview with Samoa Observer in their Jubilee Church, Mrs. Time reminded them of the vital role they play as wives of the Church Ministers, not only in the family but also within the church.

“One week prior to the general conference is dedicated for the women and the church minister’s wives. We consult, share and find solutions for common issues that we encounter,” she said.

She said there is a special day allocated specifically for Reverend Elder’s wives.

“We met to discuss the change of officers within the Women’s Committee and we share amongst ourselves the challenges we face. And on Wednesday, is our charity work day.

“The Tautua i Puapuaga o Tagata and in conclusion we will be donating $40,000 to the National Kidney Foundation in Upolu and $20,000 allocated for the Savai’i N.K.F. This is an increase compared to the previous years.

"Furthermore, we are will also donate to the Tuasivi Hospital and the Moto’otua Hospital a total of $10,000 each,” she said.

On Thursday is their annual church service.

“We remind the vitality and the importance of one’s spiritual life," she added.

The Church Ministers wives were again reminded of their important roles.

“It is important to embrace your role as a Church Minister’s wife, it is your calling. Any issue within the church she will carry the burden, whether good or bad that’s why they have to be reminded of the importance of prayer and seeking God’s guidance.”

Mrs. Time also offered advice to all the mothers of Samoa.

“You are the life of your family; you must speak it and walk it,” she said.
