Three Samoan female dance groups in Australia are hoping to promote Samoan culture and tell the story of their ancestors through dance. 

The groups, which are based in the Australian city of Melbourne, have grown bigger and stronger over the years due to their love for Samoan culture.

The three Siva-Samoa dance groups are: Tausala Dance Group, Nesian Pearl and Tamaitai Lalelei. They are collaborating through a project called "O le Fogavaa e Tasi Project". 

The Samoan phrase "O le Fogavaa e tasi" comes from a local proverb, which means "One family", they said. 

"The important message we're delivering is the beauty and importance of unity within community and creatively sharing each other's love and passion," the Tausala Dance Group said.

The three groups have been invited to share their collaborative dance project at the Samoan Day 2019 in Sydney on June 10. 

The Tausala Dance group was created in 2017 from a special bond between the young women who share a passion for the art of Siva-Samoa.

"We share stories of our people today and inspire our young individuals who may not have the confidence to embrace and share their love for Siva-Samoa. 

"We continue to learn and acknowledge stories of those who came before us. The support from Melbourne community empowers creative collaborations and community," they said. 

Samoa's Independence Day will be celebrated in Sydney, Australia on the same day as the Samoan-based Australian Day.
