The Football Federation of Samoa (F.F.S.) is recruiting a new C.E.O.

This follows the stepping down of Faumuina Michael Kapisi, who was asked to resign back in March, 2019.

According to the recruit advertisement, the F.F.S. is also seeking applicants for Head of Technical Department and Head of Corporate Services.  The deadline for the interested parties are 14 May, 2019.

In March, Faumuina stepped down after he was asked to resign as C.E.O. This was confirmed during an interview with the Samoa Observer recently.

“They asked me to resign and we discussed for the benefit of everyone and basically its three months and I’m still be doing work for them. Technically I am still in that three months and I’ll still do work for them when they need me.

“I’m still getting paid, but in the last two weeks, I haven't done much, but in the first month I was doing quite bit of work for them. I don’t go into the office every day, only when needed for a project, how do we do.”

According to Faumuina, he works at the pleasure of the President.

“And with the new president coming in he was bringing in his own people, basically that was it. That’s how the football is when you work at the pleasure of the president and the new president had some different ideas and he had some new people he wanted to bring in.”

“As you can see were’ still building that stadium and we also have a big football project, bringing in uniform which was all in the middle of that time with the S.P.G. going on, I would help them with the transition.

“I work at their pleasure, so if they need me to come in and I’ll come in, we talk and I advise them on what I know.

And even with the audit, which was recently completed, I was there to answer questions and provide information,” said Faumuina.

Asked about concerns of the timing given that Samoa will be hosting the Pacific Games in July, Faumuina was reluctant to comment.

“It wasn’t an ideal time but then again, I think they are confident and they can continue to complete everything in time and I am more than happy to help them to ensure that nothing falls back.

And so far, everything is still in place and the stadium is still on time and should be completed by the end of the month,” said the former C.E.O.

The newly elected President of F.F.S., Papalii Leslie Petaia, declined to comment as to why Faumuina was asked to resign.
