The Magiagi Methodist Youth held a sports day at Leififi College yesterday.

It was a time for them to take a break from a week of rehearsals for last weekend's Easter celebrations.

Not only that, a youth member, Liso Iafeta said it’s also a good opportunity to join the fight against non-communicable diseases and obesity by promoting sports.

“We made plans for this day as a day for the youth members to have fun in and break from the pressure during a straight whole week of practice and most importantly, it’s also a good opportunity to releases the fats from the bodies for a healthy living,” she said.

The youth were divided into two groups which were named after the two sections of the Bible: “Old Testament” and “New Testament”.

Hardly do the youths have time for public holidays but this time around the spirit of Easter had a positive effect on them and enabled them to participate sporting activities during public holidays.
