Election candidates count hits 166
Figures released by the Office of the Electoral Commissioner show that the ruling Human Rights Political Party (H.R.P.P.) is in the lead with 96 nominated, 46 candidates from Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (F.A.S.T.), 13 from Tautua Samoa party, one from Samoa Independent Samoa and 10 Independent candidates.

The grandson of a soldier, whose name is engraved on Apia’s iconic Clock Tower, has decried the continued use of the memorial as a billboard. Tofilau George Westbrook said the fact the Government has not intervened to date to stop the use of the memorial as a billboard disrespects the dead.
