Moata'a hold onto Shield until next year

Moata’a will keep the Apia Rugby Union Senior A Shield until next year after their 34-5 win over Vailele in the final round of the competition on Saturday.

They finished in a tie for second place overall (with Apia Maroons) with two losses over the season; one more than champions Vaiala.

Senior A coach Leanna Malo Nofoagatotoa said it was a very good game for his team.

“We worked hard this whole week, with this being our last game, we wanted it to be a good game.

“Special thanks to the players, and all the supporters especially the families of the players.

He said it was a good, important year for Moata’a

“We lost, and we made a plan to come back.”

Leanna said their losses to Vaiala and Apia Maroons made them work hard to become a better team.

He said a lot of the players will now take part in the Super 9, before Moata’a come back together as a team afterwards.

“We have a programme to keep going for next year.”

Moata'a's under-20 side finished in a tie for second in their division as well, with Leifiifi College, while Vaiala won the title having gone undefeated.
