Saint Mary’s Old Girls (SMOGA) Association has donated $50,000 to Saint Mary’s College (SMC) Vaimoso to assist with the school’s new library.

SMOGA president, Afamasaga Vernier Mah Yuen, said the funding was raised through various fundraising activities in Samoa as well as New Zealand.

“This is not the first time we have assisted the school, our next project is looking at fixing the school's our tennis courts into netball courts.

“We took the fundraising to New Zealand and hosted a big ball there, which attributes to the majority of the funds we are presenting today (on Tuesday).

“SMOGA is all about giving back to the school; we will always be looking at more projects ahead which target Saint Mary’s College's best interest at heart," she said.

Afamasaga said the goal of the association is to give back to the college and she encouraged those who are past students to support their fundraising initiative.

SMC principal, Sister Pelenatete Peni, thanked the association for their kind and never-ending support to the college.

“Our hearts are full of joy and gratitude because we are well aware that the assistance you have presented this morning is not small, it is quite a large amount.

“We also know that it was not an easy task in raising this amount therefore we pray that our Lord continue to bless each and every one of you for your kindness.

“Your generosity and assistance throughout the past years is greatly appreciated," she said.
