After spending a few days on the island, Australian couple Brad and Abby White say Samoa is the perfect place to come to as a tourist.

Coming from the Australian state of Victoria, the Australians said they don't regret choosing Samoa as their quick getaway destination.

"We hired a scooter and we went to a couple of waterfalls and that was really nice and we went to Tosua Ocean Trench and we had the swimming hole to ourselves on a Sunday.

"That was amazing very beautiful and no crowds, so we figured as a tourist being over here at Samoa, it’s a really good place because there’s no crowd and we found that everyone is friendly and that’s good," said 32-year-old Brad.

And for 35-year-old Abby she said she was impressed with the life that the locals live.

"Really interested in the villages as well, its amazing how they live with open houses like that, it’s quite amazing," she said.

And while the cost of food could be dear, they have not let this stand in their way as they enjoy the white sands of Saletoga Resort on the main south coast road in Siumu.

"Its very nice; staff are very friendly and helpful and it’s a good spot.

"It’s quite good, probably a little bit expensive for what we thought, being a resort but that’s why we’re going to try and get out of the resort a bit and try eating at some of the local places around town," said Brad, who is a chef back home.

When asked what he thinks of the local food, he said he's really enjoyed it, "Very good so far, lots of fresh ingredients, lots of fresh fish, fruit and I really enjoy it. I have to do a bit more of the sort of little stalls here and try some of their local stuff and some of the local meals," he said in an interview.

This is the couple's first holiday without their two young girls and the only challenge they have come across here is the humidity and heat.

"We’re from down south part of Australia – where at the moment its not as hot as it is over here with the humidity – so that’s a bit of a challenge, but just keep hydrated and drink plenty of water," he advised.

The tourist couple are spending four nights in Samoa but are already thinking of coming back with their children next time and stay a bit longer.

"We definitely would recommend Samoa, it seems like a great place and the people are really nice and welcoming and everything like that.

"We'd like to probably think about bring the kids over next time and stay a bit longer because we've really enjoyed it so far," Brad said.
