Rachel Reid and Mike Malson visited Samoa four times before but back then the Taumeasina Island Resort did not exist.

Their last visit to Samoa in 2016 coincided with the official opening of the Taumeasina Island Resort and they have not looked back since its commissioning. They were at the famous resort when the Samoa Observer caught up with them.

Rechel said: “We wanted to stay here because we were here when it had just been built and we learned that it looked so nice and modern from New Zealand so we decided to return.”

“It’s not a new experience for us to visit Samoa because we have been here for four years but this is our first time at Taumesina and we’re finally here and we love it."

In an interview yesterday at Tapuesina, the couple said they are staying at the resort for six days and will return to New Zealand after a small picnic.

While the couple only had so much to say starting from their previous visits in Samoa so they decided quote a few.

“Yesterday to town, we went to the flea market and we had lunch at Melani Café and we will hire a vehicle so we can do some other stuff around the island and go out for sight-seeing,” Ms. Reid said.

Asked by Samoa Observer for suggestions in improving Samoa in a touristy way and Ms. Reid said they just hope the road will be much improved after the fixing.

“We have learned that it’s very bumpy now on our way from the airport and the driver said that they’re fixing it to make a better road so we just hope the road gets fixed properly soon because Samoa is a very lovely country,” she added.

They uttered that they love Samoa so much that they come back every couple of years and hey wish Samoa would stay this humble and friendly.
