A prisoner who escaped but was recently captured, Aniseko Vaelei, remains at the Apia Police station to await the completion of the Police investigation.

This was confirmed by the Police Commissioner, Fuiavaili’ili Egon Keil, during a recent interview with the media.

“He has not been transferred to Tafaigata yet,” he said. “He’s in the Apia central jail, as soon as we are done with our investigation then we will bring him back to Tafaigata Prisons. But he is facing several charges.”

What those charges are, he did not say.

The Police commissioner also gave the latest update on Pati Chong Nee, one the prisoners who remains at large.

“We are still looking hard for the escapee, as a matter of fact, as we speak right now; there was a lead that was given to us this morning.

“We are putting together a plan to go and hopefully catch this individual but we have been receiving a lot of calls and leads from the public and we appreciate that but for the most part, the majority of the leads were unsuccessful.

“But we will not stop there, we intend on continuing the search in locating the escapee.”

Vaelei and Chong Nee fled Tafa’igata after a Sunday church service at the Prison.
