Fa’asaleleaga no.2 by-election attracts four candidates

The Office of the Electoral Commission has confirmed four candidates will run for the Fa’asaleleaga no.2 by-election. 

The four candidates include one carrying the flag of Samoa’s First Political Party, Lema’i Faioso Sione. 

Another candidate, Maileimalo Eneliko Pau, the son of former M.P. for Fa’asaleleaga the late Pau Sefo Pau, is running as an independent member.  

Namulauulu Papalii Leoto Sami Leota and Papali’i Lio Oloipola Taeu Masipau are running under the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) ticket. 

According to a Public Notice signed by Electoral Commissioner, Faimalomatua Mathew Lemisio, the candidates were confirmed at the closing of the nomination for Fa’asaleleaga at 12 pm today. 

“Pursuant to section 50 of the Electoral act 2019,” stated the public notice. 

“I hereby give Public Notice that at 12.00 noon today, Friday 1st of March 2019, I have accepted the nominations of the following candidates shown hereunder for the By-Election scheduled for Friday 22nd March 2019, to elect a Member of Parliament for the Constituency of Fa’asaleleaga Number 2.”
