Second time visitors back for more

Ukrainian tourist Iryna Rust from New Zealand is back to get more of Samoa – specifically Taumeasina Island Resort.

“We really like Taumeasina Island Resort,” she said.

“We really like the nice beach here and privacy and just get away from everything and its quite a short flight as well, so yes, just relaxing really.”

This is the second visit for Iryna and her husband David Rust, who reside and work in Auckland, New Zealand.

The pair is trading the hustle and bustle of Auckland City for a nice relaxation week in Samoa.

“We arrived last Saturday and we’ll soon hire a car and go around the island, so we’ve done a little bit as well last year, so [we’re] going to do something different this time,” she told Dear Tourist team.

“And really just do nothing and relax; hopefully the weather will improve,” she laughed.

Iryna said they’ve already tried the To Sua Trench last year, so they will try out Lalomanu Beach this time around and also swimming with the turtles – if they get to Savai’i.

“Everyone seems friendly and everyone tries to help, so that’s good,” she said.

She also told about their not-so-good experience with a taxi driver earlier in the week.

“We asked to go to one supermarket and drove past and then charged us double the price and then we lost our phone as well in the taxi.

“And we tried to contact them and they said they did not find anything so that’s a little bit [of a] downside for us,” explained Iryna.

Although she assured Dear Tourist team the incident will not affect their one week break in Paradise.

“We’re just sad because it’s our phone and we have lots of stuff inside and hope we find it, but we’ll sure enjoy the holiday, so it’s fine,” she said.

She also pointed out that it was “really hard to get to fresh produce” in Samoa.

“It’s really hard, just like New Zealand; produce is really hard to get to it’s just how it is to be on an island because I’m from Ukraine when on a bigger land it’s easier to get all the produce.

“In New Zealand it’s more developed but still really hard and more expensive, like Samoa,” she said.

But other than that, Iryna said she has really enjoyed the seafood in Samoa.

“I love having lobster here and seafood, that part is really good; all the fruits are really nice too. And also the cocktails!” she added.

Iryna, 34 and husband, David, 53 are set to depart our shores tomorrow.
