A section of the Savalalo flea market’s roof was blown off again by strong winds – just over a week after it was repaired by the Samoa Land Corporation staff.

The street vendor’s stalls were empty and wet from the bad weather on Wednesday.

Vendors, who were selling pork-buns nearby and refused to identify themselves, told the Samoa Observer that the vendors vowed not to return until the damaged roof is fixed.

The Samoa Observer reported on the concerns of the vendors a fortnight ago, after the roof was initially damaged by strong winds.

According to the Samoa Land Corporation, which manages the Savalalo flea market, vendors cannot pay rent during the damage period and a row of vendors next to the affected area explained the same policy applied to them.

When the  Samoa Observer followed up on the vendors at the Market again yesterday, Steve Leuatogi, a representative of the vendors said they’re thankful that the roof is now fixed.
