Sharing the Spirit of Easter

United States Embassy in Apia hosted the Samoa Victims Support Group’s sheltered children for a memorable day of fun at the U.S Residence Vailima last Friday.

The Charge de affaires, Angelina Wilkinson, her family and staff members joined the fun with volunteers of the S.V.S.G and staff.

The event was the U.S Embassy’s tradition to share the spirit of Easter with the children survivors of violence and sexual abuse under the care of S.V.S.G.

The children were involved in different fun activities, which included coloring Easter drawings; putting together art collections; designing food bags and a variety of sport.

Ms. Wilkinson was around to lend a hand and be a part of the fun activities.

For children with low self-esteem following the different circumstances surrounding their admission to S.V.S.G’s shelters, last Friday was one of those days when they just enjoyed the fun activities like normal children.

There was laughter, warmth and love as Ms. Wilkinson, family and staff shared the spirit of Easter with the children.

Close to 50 children participated in the fun activities.   For three hours, the children were spoiled with games, fun activities and the Easter Egg hunt finale.

So as the whole world prepare for the commemoration of the death and resurrection of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ, please remember the children at the Campus of Hope in your prayers.

S.V.S.G President, Siliniu Lina Chang, is extremely grateful. “To Her Excellency Angelina Wilkinson, family, and staff; thank you for sharing the spirit of Easter with the children from the Campus of Hope,” she said.

“You have continued the tradition set by previous Charge de Affaire’s of fellowship with the children during Easter.  Faafetai, Faafetai, Faafetai tele lava.”
