P.M. was unprepared
Re: An interview that shamed a nation
They were shameful answers from the P.M. who was clearly not prepared for the interview. The office of the Press Secretariat or whoever the adviser is to the P.M. on media matters needs to start getting more professional with how to prepare the P.M. for these types of interviews.
It is not like Samoa, where the TV news gives the P.M. all the time in the world to make a speech. Foreign media don't play that game.
That 60 Minutes story possibly went out to millions of Australians on Sunday. MILLIONS! Most of them would never have heard of Samoa until then.
When our economy relies on tourism, with the majority of visitors and tourists coming from New Zealand and Australia, the P.M. has done nothing to give any kind of reassurance to that very important market that Samoa is safe and secure.
It is not out of the realms of possibility that his ridiculous answers will have a direct impact on tourist arrivals from Australia. That is what has so annoyed me.
