England rugby coach Eddie Jones has tapped into his Australian connections by bringing former Wallaby Glen Ella onto his staff for the team's three-test tour of Australia in June.

Ella has been hired on a temporary basis and will work as a skills coach, responsible for developing England's attacking play.

Ella played club rugby with Jones at Sydney-based Randwick, and was assistant coach for Australia under Jones at the 2003 Rugby World Cup. He played four games for Australia from 1982-85.

Jones said on Thursday that Ella "brings with him a wealth of experience, but also has one of the best attacking minds in the business."

Jones hired former Australia flanker George Smith as a breakdown consultant during the Six Nations, which England won.
