Always put family first

Everyone meet Li’a Tavita.

He is from American Samoa but he is in the country visiting his family at Salea’umua.

Li’a told the Village Voice that he will be spending two weeks here before going back home.

For Li’a, being in Samoa is one of his favourite things in life.

“I am here for two weeks before going back to Pago.

“I always love coming here because I get to spend time with my families and loved ones.

“No matter where we go and what we do in this life, family always comes first.

“And that is why I am here.”

He went on to say that time spent with families and loved ones is always the best.

“I try my hardest every time to come visit my family. The main idea is to never break this bond and connection we have with families.

“This is because they will always be there for you no matter what. Family is where you find love and warmth.

“I also try my best to send them money to help out with all the family contributions and other stuff here in Samoa.”

Li’a said he was raised by his grandmother.

“And I am really close to her.

“I grew up in her loving arms; she taught me how to love unconditionally and to always value our families and loved ones.

“And those words never left my mind. Even though she’s no longer here with us, but her good lessons still remain in my heart.

“Sometimes I wish she was still here so she can see the fruit she planted in us, her children. “However, that’s why we value and always put our families first in all that we do.”

Moreover, Li’a said he draws his inspiration from his family.

It is the main reason he works hard each day.

“To me, my main goal is to work hard to provide for my family here in Samoa.

“And I know a lot of people residing overseas have the same goal. We all want to help our families and that is why we sacrifice a lot for the people we love.

“I always try my best to send them money and help them out whenever they need anything with all that I have.

“And I will continue to do this for as long as I shall live with the help of God.”
