Netball builds stronger bonds

With the end of Netball Samoa’s Business House tournament last week, it is safe to say that success was met in more ways than one.

Apart from the all out enjoyment and fun for all who took part, the tournament also helped form stronger bonds between teams in a very healthy and active way.

Now with rivalries out of the way, Netball Samoa hosted a small prize giving event on Monday night at Home Café to reward those who are deserving and to further create friendships between businesses in a fun atmosphere.

“Tonight we’re celebrating the end of a really successful business house tournament with our major sponsors ‘Reckitt Benckiser’, Taula beer and also associate sponsor Pacific Forum Line,” Netball Samoa’s C.E.O. Rosemarie Esera told the Samoa Observer.

“The tournament in general is just to have people actively engaging in sport; preferably in netball.

“We are encouraging a lot of companies to enter their teams and social clubs as an activity for team bonding.”

According to Ms. Esera, teams were happy with the outcome of the tournament stating that they feel stronger as a group than ever.

“Just getting some of the feedback from some of the teams saying that we have reached that goal,” she said.

“We have P.F.L. panthers who say they grew stronger together; another great team who bonded well is TV3 as well as O.C.L. Royal Family.”

But this tournament goes very well with Netball Samoa’s plans to create lasting partnerships.

“As part of one of the goals for Netball Samoa’s strategic plan is attracting and strengthening partnerships as well as having a sustainable development programme,” Ms. Esera said.

“So we see the business house tournament as part of our Samoa net programme where we are encouraging older or more mature people to engage in sport.

“We will hopefully provide active bodies and a healthy lifestyle.”

With overflowing Taula Beer and delicious dishes, the atmosphere was too enjoyable to hold onto old grudges.

So all teams decided to leave everything on the court and just enjoy the night together.

“The atmosphere tonight is just an enjoyable one,” Ms. Esera said.

“Like I said it is a celebration for the success of the event, and we hope that teams get to mingle with one another and enjoy the night instead of just battling it out on the netball court.”

Ms. Esera concluded with a word of thanks to those who made everything possible behind the scenes.

“I would like to thank our major sponsors once more to all the major sponsors and those who donated to make sure this night was a success,” she said.

“Most of our prizes have been sponsored by Taula; they provided us with Bibs, crates of beer and for the enjoyment of all the teams they have provided us with two kegs of beer.

“So we are really appreciative for our sponsorship from Taula; I would also like to make note that this isn’t the first time Taula has been a very strong supporter for Netball Samoa.

“Not only with our business house but also with our kid’s netball with the Taxi campaign ‘I am Sport’.

“Our prizes also include trophies and cash prizes."
