Prisoner caught on the run

The remaining prisoner Vaai Panapa, who has been on the run for two weeks, has been returned to Tafaigata Prison. 

This was confirmed by the Assistant Commissioner of Prisons, Ulugia Niuia Aumua.

He said  that Mr Panapa was brought back by his family to the Ministry of Police on Monday. 

Mr Panapa was held in custody on Monday for Police to continue their investigations before he was taken back to Tafaigata on Tuesday evening. 

Ulugia thanked the villagers and family members of the escaped prisoners for their support and especially for returning these escaped convicts who were on the run. 

Panapa escaped from Tafaigata on Friday 30th September 2016 with two other prisoners who were caught the following day. 

Panapa is a male of 26-years-old from Vailele and is serving an imprisonment term for charges of theft, burglary, breaking and entering and for escaping from prison.
