Temukisa’s plea for water
Temukisa Tolofua is always smiling.
She is a happy person and prefers to think positive thoughts despite the challenges she faces.
She adopts the same attitude towards the issue of water.
The Leulumoega Tuai resident however is desperate for her family to have access to water.
“It’s been five years,” she said.
“To be honest with you, this is a very serious problem because we don’t have a water supply.
“We requested and requested but the water officers told us that it will soon be fixed. It’s been five tears already and nothing has been done.
Temukisa said the cost of getting water to where they live is hard.
“The cost of getting water here is expensive but we do go through a lot of hard work to try and look for water.
“My family is in need of a water tank to assist us with water problems. It’s always a hard work for us to look for water and this is why we need your help.”
Aside from that, the 43-year-old says life is great.
“Everything is fine in my family and we have enough to go around,” she told the Village voice.
“It’s not like we have much to spend on within my small family. We are just grateful for every little thing we get and we just focus on putting our family first.”
Selling the fruits of their land provides for the family.
“We have been living on this land for some time now,” she said.
“You see the entire area around our house is used to do our plantation and we are starting to grow vegetables
“We get to sell the fruits of our land. Sometimes we deliver it to homes and we get money for it which is enough for us.”
Her last words?
“We keep asking the Water Authority about the problem but all they say is to wait as they’re going to fix it soon.
“We can’t live like this forever; we need help.”
