The last defendants to face election related criminal charges have been spared.

Keti Nafoi and Seuamuli Afele Maiava from the constituency of Gagaemauga No. 3 have had charges of bribery against them dismissed.

District Court Judge, Vaepule Vaemoa Va’ai delivered the decision on Friday.

Former Member of Parliament and lawyer, Tuisa Tasi Patea, represented the defendants.

Acting Electoral Commissioner, Faimalomatumua Mathew Lemisio, is the lawyer for the Office of the Electoral Commissioner.

The defendants were among several others including Members of Parliament who faced criminal charges for petitions.

Mr. Nafoi was summoned in relation to a criminal charge on an occasion around 3rd March where he was accused of handing out $30tala to a voter.

Similarly, Seuamuli was also charged for bribery in an event on 4th March where he allegedly handed out $100tala.
