A plan to dominate the world?

Dear Sir,

Re: Ancient Mysteries Reveal the Future

I have just come across the exchange between regular contributors to this column, Emanuel and Leituala Roger B, on the S.D.A. Church’s programme of Bible meetings running in town at the moment.

There appears to have been an earlier piece on the subject by Leituala Roger B, which I can’t find a copy of unfortunately. But the title of his latest comment, “We’ve been misled for too long” speaks for itself.

One assumes he was referring to the S.D.A. church as the one doing the misleading.  Leituala also talks about this (the evangelism meetings) as being part of some geopolitical ploy for domination of the world presumably by the S.D.A. Church.

Emanuel in his/her opinion “What is missing from their theological discourse” not  only warmly embraces and praises Leituala’s views but also talks about some supposed flawed approach by the S.D.A. Church on the subject of Christ’s second coming.

Needless to say, the views expressed are a gross misrepresentation of the facts and of the S.D.A. church’s beliefs and teachings.

If salvation were not such a deadly serious matter, one could easily pass off the exchange as simply another part of the world of fake news and easy to come by personal opinions we find in much of the media today.

But someone who needs to hear the messages being preached at the evangelism meetings in question might read these opinions and is put off from attending.

Incidentally and by way of general information, the meetings in question are part of the S.D.A. church’s global mission of preaching the Gospel to the world in the context of the Three Angels’ messages of Revelation 14: 6-12.

These are a part of the Great Commission Jesus gave his disciples before he ascended to heaven. (Mathew 28: 19, 20) Some may claim that Samoa is a Christian country already, but a quick look at what’s happening around us every day should quickly dispel such a notion.

And besides, the ancient mysteries of the Bible and what they say about our world today is not a subject one hears much about, if at all, in these parts.

This letter to the Editor is not written however to argue through these columns against the disparaging views and opinions expressed, at least not at this point.  I would like to suggest instead that if Leituala and Emanuel are interested in the truth as they claim; they should take the opportunity of the meetings this week and next to find out what the S.D.A. church teaches about itself and about the Bible. It’s easy enough to read and learn from what other people write and say, but here is an opportunity to hear firsthand from the S.D.A. church itself its beliefs and teachings. After all the Bible does teach to keep an open mind but to test all knowledge against God’s Word – the law and the testimony, (Isaiah 8:20), the only reliable litmus test against error.

And if after doing so, they are still of the same mind, then we can see about having an exchange of ideas through these columns. At the very least, they will be better informed about what the S.D.A. teaches about itself and the Bible. That way, we avoid getting into just another vexatious partisan religious argument with more heat than light.

The meetings are open to the public, so anyone can come and go at will.

There is no need for anyone to say who they are if that is what they prefer to do.  I should be more than happy to provide additional information regarding the topics discussed each night so they can better choose the ones that address the issues they say the S.D.A. Church is misleading people on.  My email is [email protected] .

But let me end these brief comments with this final thought though.

The idea that this is part of some ploy to dominate the world as Leituala suggests is not really as farfetched as might first appear. Listen for instance to the words of the Great Commission Jesus gave to His disciples in Mathew 28: 18-20, and you can see why; Verse (18): ….Jesus came and spoke to them saying; “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

(19)  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age”

This sounds very much like a plan to dominate the world to me, but not by the S.D.A. church although it is a global movement itself, but by the Lord himself and with the Gospel.
