“IT AINT OVER TILL IT’S OVER” as Lennie Kravitz so rightly sang.

The General Elections may be over, but now is the time when the real wheeling and dealing begins for those who are giving and those who are receiving.

And no, we’re not talking about those never-ending claims from before the elections when a sitting or previous member had said “I just want one more five year term and then it’s your turn.”

Ha! Decades later ...

Nor are we talking about street vendors who were rounded up by the unscrupulous and followed the crackle of a 50 tala note to register in whatever electorate.

Nor are we blabbing about those who were simply paid off not to run when they hinted that they just might.

No we’re talking about the games the big players are into, post election.

It’s the one when you name your price to either not petition or to drop your petition altogether.

Last we heard, the going rate was 150,000 tala slightly more than the salary of a C.E.O. of a government department.

And these are the same people proclaiming that may be our leaders for the next 5 years.
