Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, is ready.

Not only is he confident that Samoa’s Lupesoliai Joseph Parker will do the job at the Vector Arena tonight, he is equally excited about his new role.

Tuilaepa will have the attention of the world when he introduces the main event, the Parker and Ruiz fight. He will be speaking on behalf of Samoa, to support the chief from Aufaga whose roots are at Tapatapao and Faleula.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa will be among a strong contingent from Samoa who are in Auckland for the fight. Tuilaepa left the country yesterday.

Asked if he was nervous about introducing the fight, Tuilaepa said he was as relaxed as Parker. He said he was looking forward to the task.

 “I will start from low key going up to the high key,” he said about how he will introduce the fighters.

Tuilaepa also confirmed that superstar Seiuli Dwayne Johnson will not be attending the fight.

Tuilaepa had sent an invitation to Seiuli some weeks ago to be his special guest at the event. 

But he is not available.

“He has a new movie that has just come out,” Tuilaepa told the media. 

“But what I heard if he did not have other plans we would have seen something else on that night. 

“Let’s just hope for the best on the night.”

The government has come strongly to back tonight’s fight, throwing US$100,000 to make it happen.

During yesterday’s weigh in session, Colonel Bob Sheridan, hailed Samoa’s decision. 

“I really thank Samoa for getting involved in this,” he said. 

“I think now Auckland realize the magnitude of this. You can’t get a corporate cab, you can’t get a hotel room, you can’t get a reservation for dinner at one of the top restaurants but that’s the kind of deal that happens around heavyweight championship boxing.”

Sheridan said tonight’s title fight could potentially be one of the best in the history of boxing.
