A young author is making her mark early in life with the launch of her first book.

Jadyn Petimara Ualesi launched “Fear to Love” in the presence of friends, relatives and supporters at the Orator Hotel on Wednesday night.

The book, she said, is about finding true love.

“The youth of today are killed and commit suicide because of love, abuse of love for personal gain, bring embarrassment and disrespect to families because of love and so they are definitely looking for true love,” Ms. Ualesi said.

“There is a lot of domestic violence in the homes and relationships are broken because of the wrong interpretation of love.”

“Fear to love may bring an idea to develop a solution for all these issues we have in our society. Finding true love may take forever but when you find it, I believe it will give you a healthy relationship that is filled with lifetime happiness, joy and passion. This book is one solution to treating love in a respectful way.”

Dedicated to her grandparents, the late Lauano La'ulusa Kilepoa and Tima Naea, and the late Tusigatupe and the late Petimara Ualesi Tulafono, Jadyn says her love of writing began when she was in primary school at Peace Chapel Christian School when she was asked to write essays.

“I could imagine then what I wanted to be and who I wanted to be.”

And it was also reading that inspired her with authors of her favourite books including Sylvia Day, Cassandra Clare and Lani Wendt-Young.

Secondary schooling followed at Fa’atuatua Christian College, during which time the diagnosis of rheumatic fever brought an end to the volleyball and netball that she loved.

‘Fear to Love’ can be purchased online, from Jadyn herself or from Samoa Stationery and Books after or during her book signing.
