Prison escapees Pati Chong Nee and Aniseko Vaelei broke into a shop in the early hours of yesterday.

The Police, in a statement posted on its Facebook page after lunch today, said there was confirmed sighting of the two convicted criminals who have been on the run from the authorities for the last three weeks.

The pair broke into a shop at Moamoa and were captured on the company’s CCTV camera stealing canned food, cigarettes, alcohol and a Digifix phone. According to the Police, they disguised themselves by wearing “military-type clothes, hoodies, baseball cap and sunglasses”, and were seen armed with machetes when walking around the shop.

In an appeal to the public, the Police said the two escapees are armed and dangerous and should not be approached when sighted.

The public has been asked to contact the Police on telephone 22 222 or 29127 if any suspicious person with similar descriptions are seen in their area. The Police also advised that it is an offence to assist, harbor or shelter any man or woman who has escaped from lawful custody.

Residents who live in the suburbs of Moamoa, Aleisa, Tapatapao, Siusega and Vaitele have been urged to be vigilant and secure their homes and properties.
