The management and staff of TV3 have come on board to support the Samoa Observer’s Ele Fund.

The Fund has been set up for Ele to honour her achievement of winning Samoa’s first Olympic medal, a silver medal, from the Olympic Games in Beijing, China in 2008.

At TV3’s office yesterday, the Owner, Hans Joachim Keil, presented a cheque to Marj Moore, of the Samoa Observer.

Mr. Keil said he and TV3 are extremely proud of what Ele has achieved for Samoa.

“This money is not that much but it’s just something to show our continuous support to our very own, Ele Opeloge. May our Heavenly pour in more medals for Samoa in the future,” he said.

Ms. Moore expressed Samoa Observer heartfelt gratitude to TV3 for their support.

“Thank you very much Joe, thank you to Verona and staff of TV3 for supporting us with this contribution to Ele’s fund,” she said.

“I think you feel the same way as most of the people in Samoa that she is so deserving as our first ever Olympic medal winner.

“We will make sure that this money will be put into the account for her when she arrives here to collect her medal.

The Samoa Observer has set up a Fund for Ele Opeloge to honour her achievement of winning Samoa’s first Olympic medal.

Ele, who is currently in New Zealand, was robbed of her chance in 2008 to stand on the podium and receive the accolades of her family, her peers, her country and the rest of the world.

Last year, Ele’s fourth placing was raised to second after it was revealed that the second and third place medalists had tested positive for the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
