BETWEEN THE LINES

Daughter of Cabinet Minister

Sources tell BTL that the daughter of a senior Cabinet Minister was involved in an incident where six-year-old girl was killed on Sunday morning.

The little girl was returning home from Sunday school when she was hit and killed.

The family of the Cabinet Minister has already offered a ifoga, which has been accepted and money to the family to help with the funeral.

The 29-year-old daughter of the Cabinet Minister has been charged.

This is very, very sad.

Sad for the girl’s family and that of the Cabinet Minister.

Them coaches

Prominent commentator, Fauono Ken Laban, posted this impressive list on his Facebook page. It reads:

• Tana Umaga Coach Blues

• Pat Lam Coach Bristol

• Namulaulu Alama Ieremia Coach Auckland

• Daryl Suasua Coach Counties Manukau

• Earl Va'a Coach Coca Cola

• Sam Rasch Coach Wellington 7s

• Filo Tiatia Assistant Coach Auckland

• Tai Lavea Assistant Coach Auckland

• Semo Sititi Assistant Coach Counties Manukau

• Rodney So'oialo Assistant Coach Wellington

• Ross Filipo Assistant Coach Coca Cola

Now he didn’t quite finish his post.

Perhaps it should’ve read:

• Sir Gordon Tietjens Coach Manu Samoa Sevens

• Steve Jackson Coach Manu Samoa

You wonder why none of these Samoan coaches want to coach here in Samoa.

Just a thought!

Fake floral leis

A friend of BTL was at a recent high profile function hosted in the heart of Apia when he saw the fake plastic leis being handed to guests.

Obviously they didn’t have enough natural leis so they went Chinese.

It was an odd look, especially in Samoa where kids were literally selling mosooi leis a few metres down the road.

BTL hopes this is not the start of a new trend.

This is Samoa. We have not excuses for the Chinese-made leis.

But then again, they are cheaper aren’t they?
