Great young people, great country
Dear Editor
On May 15th I climbed Mt Vaea.
It had always been a dream to see Robert Louis Stevenson’s grave and at 80, I probably was too ambitious. I reached the top and slipped on the way coming down.
As there were few people on the mountain, and it was dusk, I expected to have to stay there for the night. Out of the bush emerged four of your young men, caring and kind rugby players, who led me down the mountain and took me to the hospital emergency.
I am now back in New Zealand with bruises, scratches and a few stitches, but I will never forget the wonderful men who helped me that day. I plan to return to Samoa one day.
You have wonderful young people and a great country.
Thanks again
