God, family and work

When you are born into a family of hardworking people; you will grow up to be somebody who doesn’t know the meaning of resting.

That is a simple explanation from La’i Seuao of Falevao about why he’s always motivated to work the plantation every day.

The 63-year-old learned from his parents when he was a little boy.

And from then on, he just did everything out of love for them and now, continuing to do the same for his own children.

“That has always been how I am and now I’m older; with my children all grown up and having their own families, I still have that work energy in me,” said Mr. Seuao.

“My family is a peaceful family, and they know me well when I get my working mode on, nobody can stop me.”

Mr. Seuao really doesn’t have an old bone in his body when you see how he works the land.

“I’m still living life as a young soul; I’m even making use of my time to go to church.

“I believe that if you know God and always remember him in whatever you do; trust me you will never get lost in this world.

“I mean if I look at the life now; it’s going at a fast pace and we don’t even know what could affect us and by that, I mean there are so many bad influences that new changes has brought into our country. So it is not surprising to hear the new kind of troubles that Samoa is facing today.

He added: “There’s no more love in the family, they have forgotten who they should give thanks to for the life they have, they have forgotten that God is everywhere and that’s why a lot of things have gone wrong these days.

“For me, these are the things that are important in my life; God, family and my work. That’s all I need to focus on, nothing else.”
