Honesty is the best policy
Honesty is considered the best tool if you want to succeed in life.
It’s something Harry Williams of Se’ese’e and Safotu Savai’i strongly believes in.
“Without being honest in life, it becomes very tough to make real and trustworthy love bond with anyone,” he tells the Village voice.
“Being honest helps us to be trusted by the people in our surroundings or closer to us.”
The 35 year old works at Vaitele.
“My boss is not here but I do the work as I am told every single day,” he said.
“I clean the yard and I am responsible for keeping this area clean. Life here at work is simple because if I do my job well, it will help other people do theirs too.”
He follows a simple philosophy.
“There is always this saying ‘honesty is the best policy’
“I leant this when I was really young, and I dedicate myself to this saying.
“As you can see, I’m only just a cleaner and a father with a simple goal of making my children’s life better.
“My hands are dirty right from the morning till evening but that does not matter what matters is money for my children.
“My boss is not around to see if I’m doing the right thing but to me there’s no need for her to monitor me around, I’m an honest father and I know God is here to monitor me.”
Harry is a father of five kids and he is the only breadwinner of the family.
“I don’t dream of a fancy home. I only dream to have enough to get by each day.
“My four kids are all at school; my wife is at home looking after our one year old baby.
“The good thing is my house is just around the corner. It’s easy for me to come work and when it’s break time I make my away to see if my wife and son are okay.
“I also don’t need money for transportation and we save a lot.”
He went on to say all his life he works whatever job with honesty and reward or not he will achieve great things.
“I don’t talk highly about myself,” he said. “I’m just picturing myself and the work I do in the next 10 years.
“I should say the same for you if you are being honest with whatever kind of job given. It’s a long work in progress but it will be worth it.”
