It wasn’t just rugby that tasted sweet success at the recent Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas.

Boxing also joined the party with Ato Leau-Plodizcki Faoagali bringing home a bronze medal.

Competing in 81kgs division, Faoagali is a Samoan residing in Australia.

Samoa Amateur boxing coach, Tavu’i Mike Lemisio, said the young boxer was first introduced to Samoa Boxing when he came to the ‘Fight For Marist’ back in 2015.  Coach Lemisio said accompanied Faoagali and two other Samoan boxers, Marion Ah Tong, 69kgs division, and Seanoa Hall, 49kgs division.

Faoagali has now returned to Australia, for a two-week break. He is scheduled to be in Samoa for the Tri Nations Tournament in October.

Coach Lemisio acknowledges all the sponsors and support the local companies, associations and the Government of Samoa provided.
