Road incidents claim two more lives
Two young lives have been tragically lost as a result of separate road-related incidents last weekend.
The first death is that of a young boy from the village of Lalomanu who died from serious injuries to his head after he fell from a bike on Sunday morning.
The deceased was 17 years old.
“What I’ve been told is that he fell off his bike when he was speeding to the other side of the village,” an official at the Hospital said.
“He died from serious injuries to his head and stomach.”
The Health official said he understands the teenager had a history of health related issues and he might have had a heart attack when he fell from the bike.
“He died upon arrival at the hospital that morning.”
The second death involves a seven-year-old-boy who has become the alleged victim of a hit and run at Tiavea.
A reliable source told the Samoa Observer that the 7-year-old boy died at the scene.
“The boy was crossing the road at Ti’avea Uta when a Toyota Hilux that was travelling from Apia to Aleipata hit him,” said the source. “The incident occurred at seven in the morning.”
The vehicle was apparently driven by a 74-year-old man.
