Samoa Youth Praise Festival goes on

Despite the limited resources and school exams, the Youth for Christ were still able to successfully host the annual Samoa Youth Praise Festival 2018.

Youth for Christ C.E.O., Sili’a Ualesi, told Samoa Observer that it was only a two-day event this year due to limited resources and examinations for students.

To organise and present the activities, donations came in from the private sector, the community and the churches.

“Their level of donation has not just been money, donations of food, resources but a lot of prayers as well,” she said.

Usually the festival would have a scheduled week involving participants from different churches and organisation that provided music and performance like the past years.

But this year Mrs. Ualesi said the coordinators shifted to a more focused approach.

“The aim was we wanted to be more effective and more impactful than doing just one week” she added.

While there were not many choir groups this year, there was more focus on the gospel.

“More time on the word so that no matter how small the participants were; we have effectively preaching to the crowd.”

The programme included a performance from the Methodist Church choir, an item from the Voice of Christ and the School Ministry team on Wednesday evening.  On Thursday night the Leififi College’s choir took the stage.

Mrs Ualesi said they got positive feedback from the participants of the two-day event.
