Raising kids on 6 tala a day

Dear Editor

Re: P.M. urges country to participate in census

“The Samoa Bureau of Statistics is critical to the development of Samoa.”

The above statement is probably the only true intention from the Prime Minister in this whole article. Some years ago, our P.M. wasn’t very happy and unimpressed with family planning, professional consultants they brought in to advice the country in order to meet the standards demanded by W.T.O. for graduation into the Least Development Countries status.

He urged couples to make more babies to increase the statistics that will help bring more aids and money for the development of the country.

Read Village Voice and see mothers with kids living on meagre meals and making ends meet with $6 a day, and I think the P.M. should be responsible for those kids, although the parents are also responsible for listening to their leader and obeying.

Disciplinary and nurturing belongs to the parents, but the P.M. should be the provider
