United in Praise

In a world besieged by division and conflict, events that promise to unite and bring people together are much needed.

Under the banner, “One nation under God united in praise”, the National Youth Praise Festival (N.Y.P.F) 2016 aims to do just that – unite, by bringing together young people from different churches around the country to praise and worship God through song.

Now into its second year, the N.Y.P.F has invited about thirty churches to take part in this event, which will be held from the 2nd to the 6th of August 2016 in front of the government building at Eleele-Fou, starting at 6:30pm.

And everyone is invited to join them either by being there in person, or by watching via TV1, where it will be broadcasted live on the three nights, from the 2nd to the 4th.

The Festival is coordinated by the Youth for Christ (Y.F.C) organization, which is known to many simply as Y.F.C, along with its partners in the public and private sectors, communities and churches.

“This is a massive opportunity to reach out to the young people through gospel music,” said Leota Kosi Latu, Chairman of the Y.F.C Board.

“Solutions being advocated for youth today don’t seem to work. Youth are disconnected, disenchanted and alienated. Only the message of the gospel will change the hearts of the young people. They are hungry and desperate for something more lasting and eternal.”

The Festival’s last two nights will feature The Katinas in concert at the same venue, free of charge. The Tennessee-based group, which specialises in music with a message, are ardent promoters of unity and love, two of the Festival’s key messages.

“They will bring a message of hope and restoration. This will be a massive opportunity for the young people of Samoa to be blessed and impacted,” said Leota.

The Youth for Christ organization is not a church, but a group comprising of people from different denominations but with the same aim – to impact the lives of young people so that they can be a force for change in their own churches, families and communities.
