Top 2 finalised in Zone A rugby meet

After five consecutive weeks of Secondary School Rugby Championships in the Zone A region, two top teams have been finalised.

They are Avele College and Leiifiifi College. The two teams now qualify for the Samoa Secondary Schools Rugby 15s competition this month.

The schools last round of weekly competitions kicked off at Leiifiifi College grounds earlier this week with much anticipation from the schools. 

Samoa College is now the reigning Champions of the Zone A Under-15 division, with Avele College in second place.  

Samoa College defeated Vaimauga College earlier this week 11-5 to defend their Shield title, which awarded them the undefeated champs of Zone A Under-15 division.

Leiifiifi College and Avele College went head to head on Wednesday for the Under-17 division final. Both teams have been undefeated since the tournament, until Avele College proved too strong for Leiifiifi College in the end, winning 7-6 at fulltime. 

Samoa College was the Shield challenger of the Zone A Rugby Under-19 division on Wednesday against Vaimauga College.

Samoa College could not walk past the strong Vaimauga College Under-19 boys’ team and retained their shield title winning 13-10 points at fulltime.

Vaimauga College is now the Zone A Under-19 Rugby Champions and shield title holder, with Leiifiifi College coming in second place.

The top two teams are now qualified for the 2018 National Secondary Schools Rugby Championship to be held on the 16th, 18th & 20th of April, 2018 at Apia Park.

Under15:

• Samoa Collage (Zone A U15s Champions and Shield Holders)

• Avele College (runner up)

Under17:

• Avele Collage (Zone A U17s Champions and Shield Holders)

• Leififi College (runner up)

Under19:

• Vaimauga Collage (Zone A U19s Champions and Shield Holders)

• Leififi College (runner up)
