Parents should always come first
We may take our parents for granted sometimes but we can never live without them.
This is what Segio Mika, 23, from Leauva’a shared with the Village Voice.
“I don’t have a job and I’m not looking for one at the moment because I have responsibilities at home to my parents,” he says.
“I have made them my priority because life is short and we never know what the next day brings so I want to take care of my parents and serve them while I can.”
Segio said he disagrees with some people saying that all youth are the same.
“Yes I’m not like the other youth; I don’t roam around. In fact, besides me there are other youths out there that are making a change now.”
“For me, whether you serve your family or work for a company, you can always initiate a change and you can make a difference.”
“I know it’s hard to also live life without a job but that sort of thing always has the time but can we say the same about our parents?”
He advised “All youth have a choice; whether to live their lives without meaning or live life and do something that counts.”
Segio went on to say that he cooks, he cleans, he works the lands and even run errands for the family and that is just the beginning for him.
“It may not be much to some people but I think spending our time and energy on taking care of the ones we love is an amazing thing. How many are still doing that?”
“I choose my parents and I choose to serve them as long as I could and that counts.”
“Quality time with them is something we can never get back once they’re gone.”
“So make the right choice now because this has an impact in our future.”
