Legendary Hotelier draws couple to Samoa

Scottish natives dressed up as Melbournians from Australia, Evelyn and Alex Brown were relaxing and enjoying each other’s company by the pool at Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel when the Dear Tourist caught up with them.

For this busy couple, it’s all about relaxing after a hectic work life in Melbourne.

Evelyn is a Podiatrist while Alex runs a plastics company.

“We’re originally from Scotland and we migrated to Melbourne 28 years ago,” says Evelyn.

“We have been ‘chillaxing’ these last two days and it has been perfect. This holiday was a surprise anniversary gift which Alex arranged.”

“We’ve been to Tahiti, Fiji and Borabora but never to Samoa so this is nice.”

For Alex, the weather is a bonus.

“It’s been perfect here with the weather being just right and its great to come out of Melbourne where it’s the middle of winter,” he said.

They have only been here since Saturday and according to Alex have been parked in the same position by the pool since their arrival - and have loved every minute of it.

Dear Tourist was curious to know why Alex picked Samoa as his surprise gift to Evelyn,

“I had heard of Aggie Greys from years ago and I just thought it would be a nice iconic place to come to,” he said.

“The stories I had heard were all to do with the Second World War, the Marines being here and the movie stars who came here so all this history around it gave it a difference from most other places.”

And so far their stay at Sheraton Aggie Grey’s has been delightful and as charming as the legendary hotelier Aggie Grey.

Alex pointed out that it would be even more amazing it there was more of one thing – Aggie Grey herself.

“The only thing is, being Aggie Greys hotel – there’s not a lot about her in the hotel,” he said.

Mrs. Brown agreed that they would like to see more of her presence in and amongst the hotel since it is her personal legend that draws people here.
