It is that time of the year again where parents are rewarded for their sacrifice as children bring home certificates, trophies or prizes for their academic achievements.

At Lepea Primary School, Daleah Nouata, 13 years of age from Vaitele-fou, Lefagaoali’i Safunuu Savai’i, took home the Dux trophy and first place in English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science.

Her grandmother, Leaoa Nouata, and family members were present to witness an early Christmas present from the young girl.

Daleah was happy to achieve one of her goals she set at the beginning of the year.

“Firstly, I want to thank God because I know without him, I would not have topped my class. I also thank my grandmother who has been an inspiration for me to do my best.”

Of 44 students in the Year 8 level, only Daleah qualified to enter Samoa College next year.

The young lady dreams of becoming a lawyer, but at the same time wishes to be a business woman, an idea which her grandmother is fully supportive of.

Daleah also wishes to reunite with her parents, Taleni Nouata Lafo and Pio Lafo, who live in New Zealand.

Second to Daleah was Racheal Ioane who topped Visual Art and Health and Physical Education

Charita Leota was awarded third place. She topped Samoan Studies.
