The Samoa Touch Rugby Association is not wasting time.

It is starting its journey to the 2019 World Cup, with its National Provincial Championships, which kicks off on 10th, 11th and 12th August 2016 at Tuanaimato S.S.F.A fields.

Samoa N.P.C sides East Steppers, West tigers and Aftermath South will battle it out against Queensland Samoa touch side who have travelled from Australia to battle the locals.

Queensland Samoa team is led by former NZ touch Rep and Current Samoa Captain Tasi Cordtz and Rising star of Australian touch rugby Jessie Leituvae.

Samoa Touch President, Hobart Va’ai, said 2015 was a great year. It was when Samoa ranked 5th in the World Cup and upset the third best team in the world, Papua New Guinea to win the Pacific Games gold medal in P.N.G. This also won the S.A.S.N.O.C Sports team of the year award for 2016.

“Two years wasn’t enough, we are starting our preparations now for 2019, hard and fast,” he said.

The Goal of the association is bring the best teams in the world to Samoa.

“We can’t travel to play the best overseas team, so the next best option is to entice them to our beautiful Samoa to enjoy our beautiful country and Samoan hospitality.

“And in that way more local players can become exposed to world class teams.”

The President wishes to acknowledge the Samoa Sports Facilities C.E.O, Moefaauo Salale Moananu, and the Authority for their assistance in making the tournament happen and Toa Gas (Samoa) the main Sponsors for the tournament.
