Satapuala murder suspect told to get lawyer

A man, who is being accused for the murder of a 15-year-old boy in Satapuala in January this year, has been told to get a lawyer.

Thirty-nine-year-old Va’alagoa Kamilo Faumuina appeared before His Honour, Chief Justice Patu Tia’va'asue Falefatu Sapolu on Monday.

The matter was adjourned from two weeks ago for the defendant to apply for legal aid.

However, as of Monday, he still doesn’t have a counsel.

“Has the registrar gotten back to you in regards to your application for legal aid,” asked Chief Justice Patu.

Faumuina said no.

“This matter is adjourned to next week, March 12, 2018 for the next criminal mention,” said Chief Justice Patu.

“Before you go back to Tafaigata, tell the officers to take you to see a registrar and ask them if they had found you a lawyer.

“Then you come back next week.”

Faumuina and the other four suspects are also charged with the cultivation of narcotics.

The young boy who was brutally murdered in January this year was identified as Uili Uili.

Police Spokesperson Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo says additional charges are expected as investigation continues.
