Manu Samoa loses narrowly to Fiji, 22-24

Manu Samoa has lost its opening match of the Pacific Nations, 22-24 to the Flying Fijians in Suva.

Down 24-3 at one stage, the Chris Vui-captained team clawed their way back to finish within a whisker of upsetting the home team.

Samoa scored their tries through Melani Matavao, Jack Lam and Dwayne Polataivao.

A couple of missed penalties and conversions would have made a big difference in the scoreline.

Fiji had three players sent to the bin on three separate occasions but Samoa failed to capitalise. That coupled with a number of unforced errors came back to haunt the men in blue in the end.
