Murder accused back in Court

A man from Leulumoega, Amosa Poloite, accused of murder, was summoned back to the Supreme Court on Monday.

Poloite was required after the Prosecution filed another charge against him for breaching one of his bail conditions.

The matter was called before Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asu’e Falefatu Sapolu.

Precious Chang, the Director of the National Prosecution office told the Court that they have filed an affidavit with regards to an investigation in relation to the accused man breaching his bail condition not to be seen at Leulumoega.

Poloite’s lawyer Leinafo Taimalelagi told the Court her client only returned once to Leulumoega to collect his belongings.

But Ms. Chang disputed this saying that the Police found that Poloite had been to Leulumoega more than once.

At that point, the Chief Justice asked the defendant why he went back to Leulumoega after he was ordered by the Court to stay away.

In response, Poloite said he went to fetch his clothes.

Asked why he couldn’t have sent someone else, Poloite said only he has the key to his wardrobe.

“I am giving you this one last chance, don’t you breach that order again,” Chief Justice Patu said.

Poloite is facing a murder charge. He is accused of stabbing the 23-year-old male, Pepe Tomasi of Leulumoega-Tuai last year.

Poloite pleaded not guilty to the charge against him. The hearing has been adjourned until 24 October 2016.
