A much-needed helping hand
The Tank Guy Company at Pesega has donated $2,000 to the Samoa Red Cross Society.
The donation is to assist families that were affected by Tropical Cyclone Gita last month.
Tank Guy representative, Vera Roebeck–Tonumaipe’a, said the help is their way of lending a hand to the Samoa Red Cross Society who has been working nonstop to help the families rebuild their lives.
“We have also worked together with them (Red Cross Society) in the past to help those families who are in need of water tanks.
“This donation will help assist with the work they are doing at the moment in providing for those vulnerable families.”
Secretary General of the Samoa Red Cross Society, Namulauulu Tautala Maualaivao, said the assistance from Tank Guy will help them with their work in helping families that are in need in the aftermath of Cyclone Gita.
“As you know we are still helping families that have been affected by Tropical Cyclone Gita,” said Namulauulu.
“As you know we cannot just give help to families, we have to conduct our surveys on what has been damaged and then we note it down.
“We already have containers located around the country with materials stored inside when disasters hit.
“These containers it contains material things that help families rebuild.
“It’s a lot of work, but we are here to help and we accept any help from any of our family.”
She added the help from other organisations will help them in so many ways.
“So it will help us purchase some of the things that families need,” he said.
“Not only will it help restore what has been damaged by the cyclone, it will also help the children as well as the families.
“Another useful help is our volunteers, they are the ones who are really working hard in this.
“They are well trained and well prepared for these types of incidents, so we need help in terms of volunteers, but we also have to train them properly.
“We are very thankful for the generosity.”
