The United Nations Staff Association marked the festive season with a room decoration competition at the United Nations Complex in Tuana’imato.

The month-long competition was for the best festive room (unit) and best festive room (individual), said Ali’itasi Petaia, president of the association.

“Back in November, in the spirit of the holidays, our staff association executive asked the staff to spruce up their own work stations leading up to the holidays.

“The staff have clearly adhered to the challenge and transformed our One U.N. House to be in line with the holiday spirit,” she said.

The winners of the best Christmas decorated division was the environment and climate change Unit; while the best room (individual) award went to Fonotele Levi.

The environment division’s decoration mirrored Christmas in New York City, with a little bit of snow in their office, and a Christmas tree that reached the ceiling of the room with snacks on the side.

Mr Levi’s decoration reflected the green environment.

“We are phasing out plastic a great initiative hence going back to the environment utilizing our plants.”

The competition was judged by individuals outside of the U.N. family.
