Tackling 180km Ford Ride Savai’i 1 - Day Challenge

The inaugural 1-Day Cycle Race around Savai’i is only days away.

This is the first time a one day race around the big island is being put on. It is a small wonder, and a big one too, that a race of this magnitude has not been put on before.

For truly, the cradle of Polynesia, is the most unique spot in all of Polynesia for a cycle race like this.

There is a race in New Zealand, an annual event around Lake Taupo, which draws over 3,000 competitors every November. This landscape in Savai’i, is far better than what Taupo has to offer, in many ways.

The Ford One Day Challenge, is the second event in the inaugural 2016 Savaii Games. Here are your riders for the inaugural event.

The Ford race is based in Manase at Tanu Beach Fales.

The scattered start is from Tanu at various times starting at 5am on Saturday morning. It is expected the faster riders will complete the ride in six hours.

Sometimes however, ability has to go together with the truth of technology and machine.
