Anthony Joshua is one step closer to becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

He has just defeated Samoa’s world champion, Lupesoliai Laauli Joseph Parker infront of a sold out Principality Stadium, in Cardiff.

The fight went 12 rounds where Parker started off well and tried valiantly throughout but never got any momentum to really threaten Joshua.

Joshua on the other hand fought a very safe fight, choosing the jab to keep Parker at bay.

All three judges awarded the fight to Joshua.

At the end, Joshua acknowledged Parker as a true world champion. He added that this bout for him was about boxing finesse and now that he has scored his first 12 rounds victory, he wants Deontay Wilder next.

As for Parker, he promised to be back better and stronger.

Parker said he needed to work harder and admitted that Joshua was the better fighter.

In front of millions watching from around the world, he thanked supporters in his Samoan language before he acknowledged the support from Samoa and New Zealand.
